In this class young school-age children engage in yoga movement through story themes and music, to create and experience dynamic sequences which are playful, fun, explorative and confidence-building. Children will experience the mind body connection that is integral to yoga and creative play, which emphasises being in the moment. We use kid-centric yoga language which is evocative and empowering with poses named after animals as well as familiar made and natural objects. We might even create a few! Meanwhile stories, games and music enable and encourage children to inhabit their bodies with confidence.
Children will explore yoga movements that come naturally to them such as forward bends, backward bends, balances, side stretches and spine twists blended with the developing loco motor skills of rolling, spinning, running, skipping, jumping and combinations of these. This promises to be a creative, active and fun-filled session.
