6 week course: Yoga for Pregnancy (Tuesdays in Charlestown)

Pregnancy yoga is the nurturing activity undertaken when you spend time
tuning into the needs of your body and of your rapidly growing baby within. By
combining gentle stretching and strengthening, breath awareness, relaxation
and meditation, you can enhance this natural connection, encouraging a deep
awareness both with your self and with your unborn baby.

Classes incorporate sharing of knowledge and experience, and encourage
women to tap into their vast inner resources in order to discover their own
body wisdom in order to cope with the (normal) fear and stress associated
with labour and childbirth.

The intention is for women to feel empowered and
inspired to give birth as naturally and actively as possible, thus reducing the
need for medical interventions. Practicing yoga does not guarantee an easy
transition into motherhood, however, yoga will allow mothers to find their own
inner strength through this transformative journey.

Pregnancy yoga supports and an active labour and birth. However, the most
important outcome is a healthy mother and a healthy baby, so if there is a
need for medical intervention, yoga will support meeting that (informed)
decision with acceptance, confidence and equanimity.
